I had a conversation with someone around the use of contractors to help find relevant conversations on Web2.0 that aligned with some thought leadership. Upon finding the conversation the person would put a “directional” post. Not pretend to be me or the organization but just mention there is an educational piece on this subject at this URL.

My counter part related that since the contractor wasn’t me then that would not be good. I countered that just like PR, all the contractor has done is point someone to a relevant educational document. They are not hyping it or promoting it – just making a statement of additional, relevant information. I’m thinking relevancy tops transparency. Oh, and if someone were to inquire I would have the contractor explain that they are hired to help connect the right audience to useful information based on conversations. Educational information only.

What say you?
